Whilst visiting the local tip shop, I found a heap of old petrol station signs which I thought would come in handy for an artwork. They did.
My inspiration came after the oil spill off the Kimberley’s on the Western Australian coast in 2009. It didn’t receive a great deal of news coverage and most people forgot about it. I couldn’t believe such a disaster could happen and no one seemed concerned at the amount of oil spewing into the ocean. The north west of Western Australia is such an isolated part of the world that it was too far away for anyone to worry.
